About Us
Barnes & Williams Drug Center is Abilene's oldest drug store. Mr. Barnes and Mr. Williams opened the original pharmacy in Breckenridge, but it was Mr. Barnes who opened the doors to Barnes and Williams' Abilene store location. Mr. Barnes operated the store on Hickory Street until 1966 when he sold it to Sam Allen and Larry Pittman. Sam was Larry's stepfather, and the two remained partners in the pharmacy until Mr. Allen's retirement in 1989. Then Larry Pittman and his wife, Barbara, purchased Sam's part in the store and continued to operate the pharmacy under the Barnes & Williams name and with the same tradition in service.
Today, Barnes & Williams Drug Center is a full-service pharmacy offering competitive prices, delivery city wide, providing friendly service and dedicated professionals to assist you. We also carry an extensive line of designer perfumes, designer handbags, jewelry, greeting cards and inspirational gifts.

A. Medicare Part D is available for all persons eligible for Medicare. Part D takes care of "drugs" and is provided through private health insurance companies.
Q. How do I sign up for Medicare Part D?
A. Most pharmacies can instruct you on how to sign up and information is available on the internet. Here at Barnes & Williams, there is a full time employee dedicated to assisting you with your Part D questions and to help you with your application.
Q. What is the deadline to sign up for Medicare Part D?
A. You may sign up when you first become eligible for Medicare (three months before the month you turn age 65 until three months after you turn age 65). If you get Medicare due to a disability, you can join from three months before to three months after your 25th month of cash disability payments. If you don't sign up when you are first eligible, you may pay a penalty. If you didn't join when you were first eligible, your next opportunity to join will be from November 15, 2008 to December 31, 2008.
Q. If I miss the November 15 to December 31, 2008 for Medicare Part D, what is the penalty?
A. Missing the December 31 deadline will penalize the customer by adding 1% per month penalty of the premium for the remainder of the customer's life.
Q. What companies provide comprehensive coverage for Medicare Part D?
A. Two companies providing outstanding coverage for Medicare Part D are Community CCRX and AARP.
Q. If I select a company, when can I change to another company?
A. There is an enrollment period once each year, November 15 to December 31, unless a person is eligible for both Medicaid and Medicare.
